The Tanzanian capital, Dodoma, came to a standstill on Monday, November 3, as thousands gathered to witness the swearing-in of President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her second term in office. The ceremony, held at State House Chamwino, attracted regional and international dignitaries, marking a moment of pride and celebration across the nation.

 

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki represented Kenya at the high-profile event on behalf of President William Ruto, who was engaged in official duties back home. Kindiki arrived in Dodoma early Monday morning, where he was received by Tanzanian government officials and Kenyan embassy representatives.

During the ceremony, President Suluhu took the oath of office before Chief Justice Ibrahim Juma, pledging to promote unity, strengthen Tanzania’s economy, and deepen regional cooperation. In her address, she thanked Tanzanians for their confidence and vowed to serve with integrity and inclusivity.

Leaders from across Africa, including Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema and Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, were in attendance. The event showcased Tanzania’s growing diplomatic stature and its pivotal role in the East African Community (EAC).

Earlier in the day, President Ruto congratulated President Suluhu through a statement, reaffirming Kenya’s commitment to enhancing trade, infrastructure, and security ties between the two nations.

 

The ceremony concluded with a colorful display of Tanzanian culture and music, symbolizing peace, unity, and the hope for continued progress under President Suluhu’s leadership.
