Disturbing details have emerged following the discovery of the body of a 34-year-old man that was found dumped in a maize plantation in Kabati area, Murang’a County.
Detectives are now investigating the incident as fears grow among residents over rising cases of violent crime in the area.
The deceased has been identified as Kennedy Njoroge. According to police, his body was discovered lying inside a maize farm with several stab wounds on different parts of his body, indicating that he was brutally attacked before his death.
Residents who made the discovery early in the morning were shocked by the scene and quickly alerted local authorities.
Police officers from Kabati Police Station rushed to the scene and immediately secured the area to allow investigations to begin. As officers combed through the scene, they made a troubling discovery — a handwritten note left near the body. The note claimed that Kennedy Njoroge was a habitual thief in the area and appeared to issue a warning, suggesting that more people were being targeted.
The note has caused confusion and fear among residents, with some questioning whether the killing was an act of mob justice.
However, police have clarified that investigations are still ongoing and that the contents of the note should not be taken as factual until verified.
Officers emphasized that the note does not justify the killing and that no one has the right to take another person’s life.
In addition to the note, police recovered a sharp object believed to be the murder weapon.
The item has been taken for forensic examination as detectives work to establish who may have carried out the attack and under what circumstances.
The body of the deceased was later moved to Murang’a Level Five Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The autopsy is expected to help determine the exact cause of death and provide more clues that could assist investigators.
Local residents have expressed shock and concern following the incident. Many say they are living in fear, especially after the threatening message left at the scene.
Community leaders have urged residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could create panic or lead to further violence.
