Fresh details have emerged about the shocking incident in Juja where a man died after jumping from a flyover in what police suspect to be suicide.
The incident happened on Saturday morning and has left residents of Juja shaken. Witnesses say the man arrived at the busy flyover on a motorbike taxi.
After reaching the spot, he paid the boda boda rider, stepped off the bike, and slowly walked toward the edge of the bridge.
According to eyewitnesses, he appeared calm but was looking around as if to confirm that nobody was closely watching him.
“One minute he was standing there looking around, the next minute he jumped without saying anything,” said a witness who was passing by.
The man reportedly landed on the road below and died on the spot due to the impact.
Motorists and pedestrians rushed to check on him but could do little as he had already passed away.
Police officers from Juja arrived shortly after and cordoned off the area.
The body was later taken to the mortuary as investigations began.
Officers are now working to establish the man’s identity and inform his family.
The incident caused a traffic snarl-up along the busy road as shocked motorists slowed down to see what had happened.
Some residents expressed sadness and worry, saying such cases are becoming more common and could be linked to depression and mental health struggles.
“This is heartbreaking. Many people are silently suffering. We need to talk about mental health and encourage people to seek help before it gets to this point,” said one local resident.
Authorities have urged Kenyans to speak out when going through emotional distress and to look out for family and friends who may be struggling.
