The mysterious disappearance of Juja MP George Koimburi has taken a dramatic twist after detectives revealed the involvement of a top female government official in the stage-managed abduction.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of Grace Nduta Wairimu, a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Kanyenya-ini Ward in Murang’a County. Her arrest followed days of speculation over Koimburi’s whereabouts and the suspicious circumstances surrounding his alleged kidnapping.
Investigations show that instead of being abducted, the MP was in the company of MCA Nduta at a popular joint in Kiganjo, Gatundu South, on the night of May 25, 2025.
CCTV footage and digital evidence contradicted her earlier alibi, which claimed she was attending church and political functions in Kangema on the same day.
Authorities also recovered two vehicles believed to have been used in the orchestration of the fake abduction. One of the suspects, identified as Karanja Gatana, was arrested and confessed to helping Koimburi check into a hotel where he spent the night before staging the dramatic disappearance.
The elaborate plot, which included torn clothes and claims of torture, has sparked outrage among lawmakers who are now calling for disciplinary action against the MP.
The incident has not only embarrassed Parliament but also raised serious questions about the abuse of public trust.
As investigations intensify, the DCI has vowed to pursue all individuals involved in the scheme.
Both Koimburi and Nduta now face possible charges related to conspiracy and misleading law enforcement. Further updates are expected as authorities wrap up their probe.
