Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Makadara unit have recovered a large haul of suspected stolen property following a raid on a residential premises in the area, leading to the arrest of one suspect.
The recovered items include 120 smartphones, 10 laptops, two tablets, 18 assorted gas cylinders, and a range of mobile phone spare parts.
The operation was launched after detectives received intelligence reports pointing to suspected stolen electronics and other goods allegedly stashed at the home of a named individual.
Acting on the tip-off, officers proceeded to the residence of Julius Murengi Gacheru, where a search led to the recovery of all the listed items.
Gacheru was arrested on the spot and taken into custody immediately after the items were found.
Detectives have since opened investigations to establish the origin of the property and how it ended up in his possession.
Authorities say the recovered goods are currently being processed as part of ongoing efforts to trace their rightful owners.
Investigators are also working to determine whether the items were obtained through theft or other criminal means, as they piece together the full circumstances of the case.
No formal charges had been announced against Gacheru at the time of reporting, with the DCI describing the matter as still under active investigation.
The case adds to a string of recent recoveries by DCI units across the country involving suspected stolen electronics and household items, as detectives continue cracking down on networks dealing in stolen property.
Members of the public who may have lost similar items have been urged to reach out to the DCI Makadara unit to assist in identifying the recovered property.
