Idd-ul-Fitr is one of the most significant Islamic celebrations, marking the end of a month-long period of fasting, prayer, and reflection. The festival is observed with prayers, feasting, and acts of charity.

The announcement means that Monday will be a day off for both public and private sector workers, allowing Kenyans of all faiths to join in the celebrations or take time to rest.

With the long weekend ahead, many people are expected to travel or spend time with family. Security agencies and transport authorities have urged the public to be cautious on the roads, especially as many prepare for the festivities.

The government has also encouraged Kenyans to respect and appreciate the significance of the holiday, emphasizing the need for unity and peaceful celebrations.
