On Thursday, November 2nd, president William Ruto commissioned several development projects within the Coastal region. Ruto was accompanied by various senior leaders among them the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, CS Murkomen, CS Mvurya, CS Alice Wahome and a host of County Governors.

The Head of State commissioned the construction of 10 fishing landing sites along the coastal streak. He also launched the construction of Shimoni Fish Port in Lungalunga constituency, Kwale county.

Despite the president making an order to the contractor that the construction of Shimoni Fish Port should strictly take only one year, Infrastructure cabinet secretary Kipchumba Murkomen made a contradictory statement saying that the construction will take two years.

This forced the Head of State to interrupt CS Murkomen’s speech, insisting that the construction must take one year, as he is planning to open the port before 2024 ends.

“No, no! I said one year Mr cabinet secretary, not two years,” noted the president as he interrupted the speech by Murkomen.

The CS was forced to retract his statement and adhered to the president’s order. He promised to work with the contractor to ensure that the project is completed within a period of one year.

“I have heard you Mr president. One year is less than two years. I will work with the contractor to ensure that the project is completed within one year,” responded the CS.
