Justice Bahati Mwamuye has reportedly ordered the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to trace and arrest one Meru voter Moses Kimson.
According to reports, the court ordered Kimson’s arrest for contempt of court in an online hearing for a post he made during the proceedings on the platform, regarding the Gov Kawira Mwangaza impeachment petition that was up for mention today.
Kimson has also been accused of interfering with the court proceedings. He was accused o allegedly writing a partisan comment on the court chats.
The judge has however allowed Mr Kimson to appear tomorrow on the platform after he pleaded innocence and was ignorant of court proceedings.
This comes after the impeachment petition filed by Governor Kawira Mwangaza was postponed to tomorrow 25th September 2024, for further mention and issuance of directions on the applications of interested parties.
The matter is before Justice Bahati Mwamuye at the High Court, Milimani, Nairobi.
May be an image of 1 person and textMwangaza was ousted from office by the Meru County Assembly last month, a decision that was subsequently upheld by the Senate.
In response, Justice Bahati Mwamuye issued a temporary injunction halting the Senate’s decision and preventing Senate Speaker Amason Kingi from declaring a vacancy in the Meru governorship.
Today’s court hearing was to focus on verifying compliance with previous orders and establishing a timeline for the submission of written arguments by both parties.
