Speculations arose earlier today after Kabuchai ward by-election candidate associated with Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya was seen in a meeting with Ford Kenya operatives in an undisclosed location.
Eric Wekesa, an independent candidate also supported by the area Member of Parliament Majimbo Kalasinga, was seen meeting people associated with the National Assembly Speaker who is Ford Kenya’s party leader Moses Wetangula.
This elicited speculations that the candidate has stepped down in favour of Maunda, the Ford Kenya candidate.
However, Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga has sought to clarify that Eric Wekesa is still in the race, and the meeting with Ford Kenya people was just coincidental.
“Eric Wekesa went to take a cup of tea at Noor Café, Kanduyi. While there, his opponent also arrived,” he stated.
“As a respectful and well-raised leader, Eric showed maturity and compassion by going over to greet them. Ignore the false propaganda Eric has not stepped down. He’s still in the race.”
