A Form Four student from Kiambu who had been reported missing after attending a birthday party in Thika has contacted her family, revealing that she is safe and currently staying at a man’s home, a development that has left her relatives shocked and concerned.
The student, who is preparing to sit for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations, is enrolled at Gachika Secondary School in Kimunyu, Kahaguini Village, Gatundu.According to her family, the teenager disappeared on Sunday last week after leaving home to attend a birthday celebration in Thika.
Her sudden disappearance sparked anxiety among relatives, friends, and residents, prompting an extensive search amid fears that she may have been in danger.
The family reported the matter to authorities and began efforts to trace her whereabouts.
Days later, however, the situation took an unexpected turn when her mother received a text message believed to have been sent by the student.
In the message, the girl reportedly informed her mother that she was safe and urged the family not to continue searching for her.
She further disclosed that she was staying with a man in the Kimunyu area.
The message brought some relief to the family after days of uncertainty, but it also raised fresh questions about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
Relatives said they remain confused by her decision to leave home and are worried about her future.
Family members expressed concern that the student could jeopardize her education at a critical moment, with only a few months remaining before the national examinations.
They said her mother was deeply distressed by the revelation, as she fears her daughter may abandon her studies despite being close to completing secondary school.
As efforts continue to establish the full circumstances of the case, the family hopes the teenager will return home and resume her education ahead of the crucial KCSE examinations.
