In a live Citizen TV interview outside Parliament, two legislators from Azimio criticised their UDA colleagues for their comments regarding the status of the economy.
Bomet East politician Richard Yegon was questioned by Stephen Letoo over his position on Kenyans’ concerns regarding President William Ruto’s performance after a year in office.
The UDA MP responded by stating that Ruto was doing well and pointing out that the global economy was impacted by a number of different economic reasons.
Yegon said that the clamour among opposition leaders was typical and would eventually die down as Ruto’s economic initiatives began to bear fruit. Additionally, he said that corruption had an impact on the economy.
Raphael Wanjala, a colleague from Budalangi, took offence at Yegon’s feelings and referred to the current administration as a lamenting administration.
Wamboka Wambani, the Bumula MP from Azimio, also joined the discussion to denounce Yegon’s statements that Kenyans were not expecting Ruto to deliver the State of the Nation Address.
Because Ruto was not keeping his many pledges, Wambani believed that he had broken the record of the presidency.
Julius Rutto, a Kesses MP, intervened to defend himself after observing that Yegon was losing the debate. The MPs became enraged and the Citizen TV reporter had to interrupt the interview.
Amid the continuous clamour about the exorbitant expense of living, Ruto is anticipated to address the country.
Notably, the speech is set for today, one day after Interior Secretary Kithure Kindiki announced additional charges for a range of government services, including the Ksh1,000 ID issuing price.
However, there is still worry over the rising cost of gasoline, which is predicted to hit Ksh300 in the upcoming months as a result of disclosures made by Energy CS Davis Chirchir.
