Christopher Khaemba is a well known figure in Kenya’s education sector and a co founder of the Nova Pioneer Group of Schools,which operates in Kenya and South Africa.His career shows strong leadership in both public service and private education.

He was born on January 18,1960,in Bungoma County,where he spent much of his early life.He trained as a science teacher at the Kenya Science Teachers College.

He later continued his studies at Kenyatta University,where he earned a Master of Business Administration in strategic management.

Khaemba first worked as an officer and pilot in the Kenya Air Force.He left the military after the 1982 Kenyan coup attempt and moved into teaching.He joined Alliance High School as a physics and mathematics teacher,serving in that role for 14 years.

 

In 1995,he became principal of Friends School Kamusinga and worked there for three years.In 1998,he returned to Alliance High School as principal and led the school for 10 years.

During this time,the school remained among the top performers in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams.

In 2008,he moved to South Africa and joined the African Leadership Academy as the founding Dean and Ambassador at Large.

In 2010,he returned to Kenya to work at the Equity Group Foundation as General Manager for education programs.He later served as Special Advisor on Education to the late Raila Odinga.

 

Khaemba also worked with the Teachers Service Commission as Deputy Director for teacher management.

In 2013,he joined the Nairobi City County,where he held senior roles in education,youth,sports and later urban planning and lands.

In 2015,he co-founded Nova Pioneer with Oliver Rothschild,Oliver Sabot and Chinexi Chijioke.The first school opened in 2016 with 128 boys.

The group later expanded to include girls’ schools, primary schools and several campuses in Tatu City,Eldoret and Athi River building a strong network focused on academic success and leadership development.
