Former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has announced her bid to reclaim the county’s top seat in the 2027 elections. Ngilu, who served as governor from 2018 to 2022, said she had listened to calls from residents urging her to make a comeback when the term of the current governor, Julius Malombe, ends.

Speaking at a funeral in Ivovoa village, Kitui Central, Ngilu expressed confidence in her ability to serve Kitui residents once again. She reminded them that although her name was on the ballot in 2022, she withdrew in favor of Malombe, paving the way for his easy victory.

Ngilu assured voters that she would remain accessible, as she did during her first term. She criticized leaders who isolate themselves after being elected, saying public offices belong to the people. She further emphasized the need for dignity in service delivery, regardless of a person’s social status. Ngilu pledged to serve with love, commitment, and openness if re-elected.
