Kalonzo and Oolla

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has expressed gratitude after Jane DeMathew, daughter of the late legendary Mugithi musician John DeMathew, dedicated a special song to him.

In a post on his official X account, Kalonzo said Jane dedicated the song “Muthoniwa” to him, describing the gesture as a great honour.

The song is a remix of one of John DeMathew’s iconic songs and continues the musical legacy left behind by the celebrated musician.

“Jane DeMathew, daughter of the legendary John DeMathew, has dedicated this beautiful song, ‘Muthoniwa’, to me,” Kalonzo said.

He praised Jane for keeping her father’s musical legacy alive and using music to remind people of the strong bonds that unite them.

“This special rendition is a remix of her father’s iconic song, carrying forward a musical legacy that has touched generations,” he said.

Kalonzo added that he was deeply touched by the dedication.

“I am truly honoured by this dedication. Thank you, Jane, for keeping your father’s legacy alive and for reminding us, through music, of the strong ties that bind us together.”
