Members of Azimio have been defecting to the Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Martha Karua-led Azimio La Umoja One Kenya party ever since their party lost the election. Members of the Odinga-led ODM party, Jubilee, and other parties in Azimio have lost a significant number of their elected representatives to Kenya Kwanza, who has sworn to cooperate with the current administration. Sabina Chege, a member of parliament who was nominated by Azimio, has indicated that some of the group’s members had chosen a different route to rapprochement.
While collaborating with President William Ruto, Sabina Chege stated, “Some of us in Azimio have chosen the route of reconciliation. Chege claims that many opposition figures are now moving in the direction of cooperating with President Ruto because that is the only course of action. Sabina Chege is not the only elected official who has decided to cooperate with Azimio despite being elected on the Azimio party. Phelix Oduor alias Jalang’o, Mp for Lang’ata seat, Kisumu senator Tom Ojienda, and Aden Keynan are just a few.
