Media personality and comedian Oga Obinna has strongly dismissed claims that bribery played a role in securing his latest high-profile interview.
The online buzz began shortly after the interview aired, with a section of social media users alleging that money had changed hands to make it happen.
Speaking to reporters on Monday morning, Obinna termed the claims as “baseless and disrespectful,” stating that his platform has grown through credibility and professionalism, not backdoor deals.
“I have built my brand over the years. People come to me because they know I offer a safe space and I ask honest questions. No one has ever paid for an interview,” he said.
The interview in question, which featured a controversial political figure, gained massive traction online and trended for hours. While many lauded Obinna for his bold questions and natural chemistry with the guest, others accused him of favouritism and alleged the discussion had been financially influenced.
However, Obinna maintains that he strictly upholds ethical standards in all his productions. “People are quick to throw around accusations without any evidence. Just because someone agrees to speak on my show doesn’t mean they paid for it. Let’s not normalize discrediting genuine work,” he added.
This is not the first time Obinna has found himself at the center of controversy. Known for his outspoken nature and unapologetic humour, he has often attracted both praise and criticism in equal measure.
Despite the backlash, Obinna remains confident that his work speaks for itself. He urged fans and critics alike to focus on the substance of interviews rather than conspiracies. “I’m here to inform, entertain, and spark dialogue. That’s what I do best,” he concluded.
Obinna’s management has not issued a separate statement, but sources close to the team insist the allegations are “completely false.”
