Azziad Nasenya, the prominent Kenyan TikTok creator and radio personality, is currently embroiled in a financial controversy after reports emerged that her upscale residence in Kileleshwa has been listed for auction. The development comes amid widespread claims that she failed to honour a multi million shilling mortgage.
According to a gazette notice, the property in question will be auctioned on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jeevan Bharati Building in Nairobi under the supervision of Okuku Agencies Auctioneers. The residence is a four bedroom apartment with a servants quarter located at Platinum Oak Residency Block A along Oloitoktok Road in the Lavington Kileleshwa area. The unit is estimated to be about 256 square meters in size. It is described in the sale notice as owner occupied and suitable for residential use, with standard mains connections for water, electricity and sewerage.
The auction terms require prospective bidders to pay a refundable KSh 100,000 deposit to obtain a bidding number. At the fall of the hammer, a 10 percent deposit must be made by electronic transfer, bankers cheque, or cash. The remainder of the sale price must be settled within 90 days. The sale is also subject to a reserve price and where applicable, Land Control Board consent. According to spot checks on similar units in the complex, prices for comparable apartments in the building range between KSh 24.5 million and KSh 29.5 million.
Media reports indicate that Azziad defaulted on a KSh 25 million mortgage which triggered the auction process. In the wake of the auction notice, allegations resurfaced that she had borrowed money from acquaintances and failed to repay those debts, further fuelling public scrutiny of her financial standing.
Shortly after the auction news broke, Azziad responded with a sarcastic video on her social media platforms. In the clip she prepared actual tea while addressing netizens demand for tea, a slang term for gossip or insider details. She playfully remarked that since people wanted tea, she would make some, but urged them to consume it while it is still hot, implicitly chiding those seeking sensational revelations.
Around the same time, influencer Madollar Mapesa publicly leaked WhatsApp chats purportedly between himself and Azziad. In the exchanges, he claims that she initially borrowed KSh 3.5 million, of which she repaid KSh 2.5 million, and has discussed assisting with her housing predicament. The leaked messages show the two discussing plans to resolve the situation and Mapesa offering a KSh 3 million loan and expressing willingness to intervene in the property matter.
At present, Azziad has not publicly released full details explaining how the mortgage default happened, nor has she confirmed whether she intends to settle the outstanding amount to prevent forfeiture of the property. Some supporters have offered to raise funds on her behalf, while critics have questioned the sustainability of her lifestyle.
The looming auction of her Kileleshwa home is a rare instance of a high profile content creator facing such public financial jeopardy. As October 8 approaches, the spotlight remains fixed on whether the star will intervene to halt the sale, or whether the property will indeed pass into new hands.
