Media personality Jeridah Andayi recently found herself in a very public and very relatable parenting moment after her daughter, Norah Zawadi, called her out for ignoring multiple phone calls.
The incident, shared on social media, quickly went viral and sparked a wave of reactions from fans, parents, and teenagers alike.
Jeridah, who relocated to the United States with her two daughters, was cornered quite literally by her teen daughter Norah in what looked like a spontaneous but heartfelt confrontation.
The frustration stemmed from a situation many parents are familiar with: Norah had called her mother seven times without getting a response.
This ignited an emotional rant from the teenager, who expressed not only annoyance but deep concern about what could have happened during that time.
“You’re very smart, Mom. If I call you twice, you should start to wonder if something is wrong,” Norah told her mum, her voice filled with urgency and emotion. “What if the house was burning? What if I couldn’t text you because I was in a dangerous situation? What if?” she continued, pressing her point with logic and feeling.
Jeridah stood quietly, leaning against the wall as her daughter vented.
When she finally responded, her calmness spoke volumes:
“Was the issue sorted? I always know you’re a big girl. You can handle stuff. I’m sorry, okay?” she said, pulling her daughter in for a warm hug. Norah admitted she “crashed out” emotionally when her calls went unanswered.
The clip sparked laughter and reflection online, with many users sharing similar experiences and frustrations with their own parents or children.
Some commented on how mothers often don’t grasp the panic that comes from repeated missed calls.
Others highlighted how DND (Do Not Disturb) mode has changed modern communication dynamics, especially between parents and teenagers.
Adding a humorous twist, Jeridah captioned the post: “Have you ever been told by your teenager that their phone is on DND mode?”
In a separate post, the mother-daughter duo had previously clashed when Norah misplaced her expensive running shoes at her school in the U.S. again showcasing the ordinary yet deeply personal struggles that families face even in the most public of lives.
Norah, a former student of Alliance Girls High School in Kenya, is known for her boldness and confidence.
This latest incident may have seemed lighthearted to some, but it opened up important conversations about communication, parental availability, and emotional awareness in a digital age.
