NAIROBI, Kenya — A resurfaced video of controversial content creator Andrew Kibe has ignited debate online following the confirmed separation of comedian Timothy Kimani, popularly known as Njugush, and his wife, Celestine Ndinda.

In the viral clip, Kibe revisits his earlier stance on the couple’s relationship, stating that he had hoped they would part ways to allow Njugush to regain his creative edge.

“I really wanted them to break up so that [Njugush] can come back,” Kibe says in the footage, arguing that emotional hardship often fuels stronger artistic output.

He claimed that Njugush’s recent content had declined in quality, suggesting that personal comfort within marriage had dulled his creative drive. According to Kibe, “when you’re down and hurt, that’s when you produce your best.”

The remarks have drawn mixed reactions, with some social media users agreeing that adversity can inspire creativity, while others criticised the comments as insensitive and dismissive of the couple’s personal life.

Separation Confirmed
The video resurfaced days after Njugush publicly confirmed the end of his marriage on April 21, 2026, bringing clarity to months of speculation.

In a statement issued through their brand, Njugush Creatives, the comedian said the decision to separate had been made privately in 2025.

“Last year, we made the decision to part ways after much thought and with mutual respect,” he said.

Despite the split, both Njugush and Ndinda emphasised their commitment to co-parenting and maintaining a professional relationship.

From Partnership to Brand
The couple’s journey began at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, where they met as students before building one of Kenya’s most recognisable digital comedy brands.

Through Njugush Creatives, they produced widely popular content centred on marriage and everyday life, attracting millions of followers across platforms.

Their live shows, including the “Through Thick and Thin” (TTNT) series, sold out venues locally and internationally, cementing their place in Kenya’s entertainment industry.

Kibe’s Claims and Backlash
In the resurfaced clip, Kibe also made controversial claims about Ndinda’s role in the partnership, alleging she had a dominant influence over business and creative decisions.

He further suggested a shift in corporate alignments within their brand, claims that have not been substantiated by the couple.

The comments have sparked renewed scrutiny of online commentary culture, particularly around public figures’ personal relationships.

What Next
As the conversation continues, Njugush and Ndinda have asked for privacy while navigating the transition. Both maintain that their focus remains on parenting and sustaining their professional commitments.
