A few hours after the National Police Service announced that they had received an arrest warrant against Uasin Gishu County senator Jackson Mandago, reports have emerged that he has been arrested. According to reports from trusted sources, the senator and former governor was grilled in Nakuru by detectives drawn from the DCI.
Earlier the police had announced that the senator had gone into hiding for over a day when he was required to attend an interrogation at the DCI offices.
Mandago is the main suspect in the suspect in the Uasin Gishu County scholarship scandal where a total of Sh1.1 billon has gone missing. The parents and students who have lost their money have been protesting for over a week now demanding a refund of their money. After his arrest the residents are hopeful that they will get back their money.
President William Ruto has also moved in after the situation got intense. He has said that the students who were supposed to go for the scholarship will still proceed with their education by being given local scholarships. as the DCI investigate the whereabouts of the money they gave to the county.
