Kenyan singer and businesswoman Akothee has shared her views on love, intimacy and emotional healing in a Facebook post titled “Story Time With My Daughters.”

In her message, Akothee spoke about the importance of being genuine in relationships, arguing that people should not have to pretend or go out of their way to earn affection from their partners.

She explained that when she loves someone, she makes an effort to ensure they feel comfortable around her while remaining true to herself.

Akothee also encouraged couples to communicate openly about their feelings instead of playing games with each other.

According to the singer, there is nothing wrong with telling a partner that you miss them or expressing love first. However, she noted that people should also recognise when their feelings are not being reciprocated.

She criticised the habit of deliberately withholding affection to manipulate a partner, saying such behaviour can amount to emotional abuse.

Akothee further revealed that some of her male friends had advised her against falling in love, suggesting that she should have sex without becoming emotionally attached.

Their advice left her questioning whether intimacy had become something people engaged in casually without considering its emotional significance.

The mother of five maintained that she views sex as more than a physical experience. She explained that, for her, intimacy is closely connected to emotional attachment and the possibility of building a future with someone.

She humorously admitted that she might need lessons on how people navigate casual relationships, adding that she could not understand how someone could become genuinely intimate with a person they had no feelings for.

Beyond relationships, Akothee used her post to highlight the importance of mental health and emotional healing.

She observed that people respond differently to painful experiences. While some become deeply compassionate, others may grow emotionally distant or struggle to give and receive love.

Akothee suggested that some hurtful behaviour could stem from unresolved emotional pain.

Her message encouraged people to reflect on their relationship habits, understand their emotional struggles and avoid allowing past experiences to determine how they treat others.
