Speaking at the funeral event for the late Rev. Ken Nyagudi at All Saints Cathedral, Kalonzo Musyoka made a rare appearance alongside Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.
The Wiper leader, a consistent critic of the Ruto-Raila broad-based government, acknowledged the irony of the moment. “Senator Sifuna has a great mind. He represents Raila Odinga well and is the only man who truly knows the mind of Jakom,” Kalonzo remarked.
He reminded both Sifuna and Wetangula not to forget their political roots and the long journey they’ve walked together. Kalonzo fondly recalled how they were once tear-gassed together during opposition protests in solidarity with Raila Odinga.
Now, Wetangula serves in government under President Ruto, while Sifuna is ODM Secretary General, with ODM having entered into a political arrangement with Ruto’s administration.
Despite their changed roles, Kalonzo’s message was clear: the bond forged in the trenches of opposition should not be forgotten. He jokingly added that Ruto has made them forget him causing laughter in the room.
