Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has sensationally named her predecessor as the politician behind alleged intimidation tactics and obstruction of development in her constituency.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, Wamuchomba accused the former MP who was appointed by president William Ruto to sit on the board of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) of using his position to sabotage projects intended for the people of Githunguri.

“He’s now threatening that no CDF work will be done in Githunguri under his watch,” Wamuchomba said, asserting that the former lawmaker had made public vows to block development initiatives, despite no longer holding the seat.

She further alleged that last year, the former MP convened a public meeting in Nyaga where he incited locals against her and promised to undertake projects like constructing a laboratory using NGCDF funds an act she condemned as overreach, since she is the duly elected representative.

The accusations didn’t end there. Wamuchomba claimed that over the weekend, the former MP physically stormed her CDF offices, issuing threats of violence.

The incident, she noted, had been formally reported to the Githunguri OCPD.According to Wamuchomba, her predecessor has boasted of being “untouchable” and allegedly enjoys state protection.

She cited President William Ruto’s recent visit to the Mt. Kenya region as evidence, during which the president assigned the former MP a Ksh50 million road tarmacking project in Githunguri.

She went on to expose a pattern of incomplete projects previously assigned to the former legislator, including 30 promised milk coolers during the President’s 2023 tour, and the still-stalled Githunguri Uplands Road.
