Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has suggested that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga might return to politics and challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.

On March 7, 2025, Ruto and Raila Odinga signed an agreement between their parties, UDA and ODM. This agreement, called a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), focuses on solving key issues like the high cost of living, youth unemployment, and making the government more inclusive.

Both leaders made it clear that this is not a political coalition but a way to work together for the good of the country. Their goal is to bring unity and address important problems affecting Kenyans.

This comes days after Raila lost the race for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship to Djibouti’s Mahmoud Ali Youssouf on February 15, 2025.

Amisi criticized Ruto’s leadership, saying, “William Ruto unapeleka serikali vibaya, huyo baba ukona yeye anaeza kuwacha anytime” (Ruto is leading the government badly, and Raila can leave him at any moment).

The MP also hinted that Raila could be Kenya’s next president, saying, “Raila is the next president of Kenya. Kenya needs a renaissance more than Africa!” This has led to discussions about whether Raila will return to the political scene and what that means for Ruto’s chances in 2027.

With political alliances shifting, many Kenyans are now waiting to see if Raila will make a big political move soon.

Meanwhile, President Ruto and his camp are planning Mt Kenya region tour where some individuals have warned that this might face backlash, this is due to the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
