The Kenya National Examinations Council has officially released the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, showcasing notable progress in both candidate participation and overall performance trends. The results highlight key milestones in gender representation, academic excellence, and policy implications for the future of Kenya’s education system.

One of the most remarkable achievements in this year’s KCSE results is the historic performance of Grace Sidi from Bahari Girls in Kilifi County, who scored an A Plain, making her the first student from Kilifi to ever attain such a high grade.

Her outstanding performance has been widely celebrated, signaling a positive shift in academic excellence within the county.

For the first time since the inception of KCSE, the number of female candidates surpassed male candidates, with 482,202 girls compared to 480,310 boys.

This development aligns with President William Ruto’s observations on the increasing enrollment and retention of girls in schools, which he praised as a crucial step toward gender equality in education.

Furthermore, 246,391 students secured direct admission to universities by attaining a grade of C+ and above, an increase from 201,133 in 2023.
