Former CAS and State House Digital Media Strategist Dennis Itumbi has claimed that the State House has announced the dismissal of one Mr. Pius Chirchir from his position, following allegations of corruption and misconduct.
According to a series of posts from his social media pages, Itumbi claimed that the decision comes amidst a burgeoning scandal involving a lucrative investment opportunity in Kenya’s pyrethrum sector.
According to details revealed by Dennis Itumbi, the unfolding saga revolves around an investor keen on establishing a presence in the pyrethrum industry within the country.
Without further revealing the position that M Chirchir held in the state before his dismissal, Itumbi claimed that investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have uncovered damning evidence implicating Chirchir in the affair.
Reportedly, Chirchir, being privy to insider information due to his official capacity, purportedly approached the said pyrethrum investor with promises of facilitating an amendment to existing laws to benefit the prospective venture.
In exchange for his supposed influence, investigators claim that Chirchir demanded a 2% stake in the company.
“STATE House has today FIRED Mr. Pius Chirchir. The Story. An investor interested in the pyrethrum sector expressed interest in putting up in Kenya. At that point, @DCI_Kenya investigators say that Pius, who knew about the deal by virtue of his office, approached the investor promising to ensure the law was amended to help him set up” read Itumbi’s post on X
Subsequently, according to Itumbi, Chirchir found himself in legal jeopardy as he was apprehended and formally charged in connection with the alleged transgressions. The case is slated for a hearing on June 3rd, further amplifying the gravity of the situation.
This comes at a time when President William Ruto has promised to weed out all forms of corruption involving powerful leaders from his government and outside.
