Following the withdrawal of Twitter verification badges for various users including media houses and prominent personalities, there has been lots of developments on the app.
A parody account identify itself as Citizen TV on Friday, 21st April, reported that Royal Media Services Chair SK Macharia had died.
“Royal Media Services chair S. K. Macharia has been ronounced dead by family spokesperson this evening at his home in Muthaiga. The businessman was ailing and had recently flown back from reatment in Dubai. May he rest in peace,” the account reported.
Citizen TV has been forced to speak on the alleged death of SK Macharia, dismissing the reports as Fake.
The account that reported the fake news has been identified as a parody account triggering lots of mixed reactions from Kenyans on Twitter.
Many have urged Citizen TV to work pn getting back the verification badge that had been withdrawn by Twitter to make it easy for users to identify the News outlet from parody accounts as soon as possible.
