Karibu Charlene

President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, has received an overwhelming show of love from Tanzanians ahead of her highly anticipated white wedding to her fiancé, Isaya Yunge.

Tanzanians have taken to social media to warmly welcome Charlene into their family, with several referring to her as their daughter-in-law and sister-in-law as preparations for the wedding continue in Mwanza.

The heartwarming reactions emerged after Charlene shared photographs on Instagram, attracting congratulatory messages from followers across Kenya and Tanzania.

Some Tanzanian social media users could not hide their excitement, using affectionate Swahili expressions such as “wifi,” “shemeji” and “mtoto wetu” to express their happiness about the upcoming union.

One user identified as @godsdota congratulated Charlene, writing, “Hongera Wifi tunakupenda mwaya.”

Another follower, @isariaclothingboutique, welcomed her on behalf of Tanzanian sisters-in-law, expressing excitement about having her as part of their family.

“Congratulations from your Tanzanian sisters in-law. Tunakupenda,” the user commented.

Another user, @dr_romantz, simply wrote, “Welcome home shemeji,” while @jmmzalendo extended a warm welcome, saying, “Karibu sana mtoto wetu.”

The affectionate messages have attracted attention online, with Kenyans also joining the conversation through playful reactions as Charlene prepares to become part of a Tanzanian family.

The warm reception on social media comes as elaborate preparations for the couple’s white wedding gather momentum in Mwanza, Tanzania, Isaya’s hometown.

A video circulating online has offered a glimpse of the arrangements at what appears to be the wedding venue.

A massive decorated perimeter wall carries the message, “Welcome to our wedding, Charlene & Isaya,” accompanied by large photographs of the couple and beautiful pink and white floral decorations.

The preparations came shortly after Charlene held a lavish bridal shower in Nairobi on Monday, November 3, attended by her sister Stephanie Jepchumba and close friends.

The celebration featured a white and purple theme, with a specially decorated cake carrying the messages “Miss Babe to Mrs Babe” and “Hey Mrs Yunge.”

Charlene and Isaya formalised their relationship through a traditional Kalenjin Koito ceremony on August 8, 2026, at Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.

Isaya, 36, is a Tanzanian technology entrepreneur and founder of SomaApps, an educational technology platform that connects African students with scholarship opportunities.

He is also a recipient of the 2018 Queen’s Young Leaders Award.

Although reports circulating online suggest that the white wedding could take place as early as November 6, the couple has not officially confirmed the date.

The upcoming celebration is expected to bring together family members and guests from Kenya and Tanzania, marking another major milestone in their relationship.

Charlene’s warm reception by Tanzanians has also generated excitement around the cross-border union, with many social media users celebrating the growing connection between the two families.
