Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o has reportedly praised the work being done by Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, saying his efforts are visible even outside his county.
The message was revealed by Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Wakili Thiong’o during the launch of the Kiambu Community Health Promoters (CHPs) Sacco.
Speaking at the event, Thiong’o said Nyong’o had asked him to pass a message to Wamatangi after they met in Kisumu.
“I was in Kisumu and the area Governor, Prof Anyang Nyong’o told me to tell Governor Kimani Wamatangi that all the way from Kisumu, they can see the good work he is doing,” Thiong’o said.
The statement highlighted the message of recognition that Nyong’o had reportedly shared with the Kiambu Assembly Speaker.
The remarks have drawn attention to the activities of the Kiambu county government under Wamatangi’s leadership.
Although Thiong’o did not provide details of the specific projects Nyong’o was referring to, his statement suggested that the Kisumu governor had noticed work being done in Kiambu County.
The two governors lead counties in different parts of Kenya, with Kisumu located in the western region and Kiambu bordering Nairobi.
The message also showed how county leaders can recognise development efforts taking place beyond their own areas of leadership.
Thiong’o made the remarks during the launch of the Kiambu CHPs Sacco, an initiative involving Community Health Promoters.
Community Health Promoters play an important role in connecting households with basic health information and services. Their work includes promoting disease prevention, encouraging healthy practices and helping communities access healthcare.
The launch brought attention to efforts aimed at supporting health promoters through organised financial and cooperative activities.
However, further details about the Sacco’s membership, benefits and operations were not provided in the statement.
Nyong’o’s message to Wamatangi is likely to attract interest among residents following development activities in Kiambu and the relationship between leaders from different counties.
The remarks serve as a reminder that county development efforts can attract attention beyond the borders of the areas where they are carried out.
