Kajiado County Woman Representative aspirant Susan Simayo has joined the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) after leaving the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Her move was confirmed on Thursday, October 29, by PPK leader Ndindi Nyoro, who welcomed the aspiring politician during a morning event as the party positions itself ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Nyoro described Simayo’s entry as a valuable addition to the party, pointing to her public service experience as an asset as it seeks to expand its political presence in different counties.
“It was an absolute pleasure today receiving Susan Simayo Lanet to the People’s Party this morning. Susan will be seeking to serve as Women Representative of Kajiado County next year,” Nyoro stated.
He added that her experience would make her an important figure within the party before welcoming her to the political outfit.
Simayo intends to contest the Kajiado County Woman Representative seat in the next general election. Her decision to pursue the position under the PPK banner marks a change in her political affiliation as the campaign period approaches.
The development also comes as political parties work to strengthen their networks and attract aspirants capable of competing for elective seats across the country.
For the DCP, Simayo’s departure means losing an aspirant who had been associated with the party’s political activities in Kajiado County. The development could affect its efforts to build a strong organisational presence in the area, although the broader impact of her exit remains to be seen.
Gachagua has been working to establish DCP as a political vehicle following his impeachment as Deputy President. The party’s ability to retain aspirants and attract new supporters will be important as it prepares for the next electoral contest.
Meanwhile, Nyoro’s PPK gains a prospective candidate seeking an elective position in Kajiado County, offering the party an opportunity to strengthen its profile in the region.
