Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Roselinda Soipan Tuya, has declared a net worth of KSh243.4 million, placing her among the wealthiest members of President William Ruto’s Cabinet.

Tuya revealed her wealth during her parliamentary vetting in August 2024, noting that her net worth had increased significantly from the KSh156 million she declared in October 2022. The rise of approximately KSh87.4 million sparked interest among lawmakers, who sought an explanation for the rapid growth of her assets.

Responding to the questions, Tuya explained that the increase in her wealth was mainly due to the appreciation of her properties, the expansion of her farming activities, and the acquisition of additional investments.

A large portion of her fortune is tied to real estate investments. She owns three homes located in Nairobi, Narok, and her rural residence. In addition, she owns apartments in Nairobi and Narok, properties that have gained value over the years as demand for housing and real estate continues to rise.

The Defence Cabinet Secretary has also invested in land. She owns several plots in Kitengela, an area that has experienced rapid growth and increasing land prices, making it one of the country’s attractive investment destinations.

Apart from real estate, Tuya has ventured into agriculture through dairy farming. She said the business has become an important source of income and has contributed significantly to the growth of her wealth. Dairy farming remains a profitable sector in Kenya because of the steady demand for milk and related products.

Her investment portfolio also includes shares in the Parliamentary Co-operative Society, a savings and investment scheme that has helped many current and former legislators build wealth through long-term savings and dividends. She also declared ownership of several motor vehicles.

During the vetting process, Tuya told lawmakers that the growth in her wealth was largely driven by the natural appreciation of her land and property investments, income generated from her dairy farming enterprise, and other private investments. She also disclosed that she had acquired an additional asset in Nairobi, which further increased the value of her portfolio.

Tuya’s financial journey highlights the value of diversifying investments across different sectors. By investing in real estate, agriculture, and savings schemes, she has built a strong financial foundation and steadily increased her wealth over time.

With a declared net worth of KSh243.4 million, Roselinda Soipan Tuya’s story illustrates how long-term investments and strategic financial planning can lead to substantial wealth accumulation.
