Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary and former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has declared a net worth of KSh 801 million, placing him among Kenya’s wealthiest former senior government officials.

Muturi disclosed his wealth during parliamentary vetting for his appointment as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, providing insight into the investments and assets that have helped him build his fortune over several decades.

According to his declaration, his wealth has been accumulated through a mix of public service earnings, real estate investments, legal consultancy work, farming ventures and financial investments.

His net worth has grown steadily over the years. In 2021, Muturi estimated his wealth at about KSh 300 million. By 2022, during his vetting for the position of Attorney General, he declared a net worth of KSh 761 million.

In 2024, the figure rose further to KSh 801 million, representing an increase of KSh 40 million in two years. Muturi attributed the growth largely to the appreciation of land and property values, noting that several assets he acquired years ago have significantly increased in value.

A large portion of his wealth is tied to real estate. He owns several commercial and residential properties as well as parcels of land in different parts of the country. During previous vetting sessions, Muturi revealed that one piece of land he bought many years ago for KSh 12,000 is now valued at nearly KSh 60 million.

Beyond real estate, Muturi has also invested heavily in agriculture. He is involved in large-scale farming activities, particularly in Embu County, with the ventures providing him with an additional source of income.

The former Speaker is also a trained lawyer and former magistrate. He continues to earn income through legal and corporate consultancy work, leveraging his experience in law and public administration.

Part of his fortune is also invested in shares and savings institutions. He has disclosed investments in Savings and Credit Co-operative Societies (SACCOs) and other corporate holdings that generate additional returns and help diversify his investment portfolio.

Muturi’s long career in government has further strengthened his financial position. Over the years, he has served as a magistrate, Member of Parliament, Speaker of the National Assembly and Cabinet Secretary. His decades of public service also entitle him to pension benefits.

The former Cabinet Secretary has consistently maintained that his wealth was built gradually through disciplined saving, strategic investments and the appreciation of assets acquired over many years.

With a declared net worth of KSh 801 million, Justin Muturi remains one of Kenya’s wealthiest former public officials, with investments spanning real estate, agriculture, legal consultancy and financial assets.
