The children of late gospel singer Betty Bayo have shared emotional details about why they decided to part ways with their longtime nanny, accusing her of mistreatment, neglect, and creating a hostile environment at home.
Speaking during a live social media session, Danny and his elder sister, Sky Victor, opened up about the difficult decision, saying they no longer felt safe or comfortable around the caregiver who had once been a trusted part of their lives.
Danny alleged that the nanny frequently displayed rude behavior and engaged in actions that made him uneasy.
“She wasn’t kind to us and sometimes behaved in ways that made me uncomfortable,” he claimed. “There were things happening in the house that I felt were wrong, and I was afraid to speak up for a long time.”
The young boy also expressed concerns about personal boundaries and hygiene, saying some of the nanny’s habits left him distressed.
Sky Victor echoed her brother’s concerns, revealing that the nanny’s attitude allegedly changed after the death of their mother. According to her, she had hoped the caregiver would provide emotional support during a difficult period, but instead felt isolated and misunderstood.
“After losing my mum, I needed someone who could guide and encourage me,” Sky said. “Unfortunately, I felt like I was constantly being spoken to harshly and treated unfairly.”
She recounted several incidents in which she felt ignored or dismissed, including a period when she was recovering from illness and needed assistance around the house.
According to Sky, repeated attempts to address the situation yielded little change, prompting the siblings to confide in a close family member.
The children said they eventually reported their concerns to an aunt, who listened to their experiences and assessed the situation. While the family initially considered waiting until the following morning to take action, Danny reportedly expressed fear about spending another night in the same house with the nanny.
“He was genuinely scared and emotionally affected,” Sky explained.
After discussing the matter, the family made the decision to end the nanny’s employment. The children said the caregiver was informed respectfully, compensated for her work, and provided with transport arrangements before leaving.
The revelations have sparked conversations online about the importance of children’s welfare, emotional safety, and the role caregivers play in shaping a child’s environment.
The siblings’ candid account has drawn sympathy from many social media users, with some praising them for speaking out while others called for a balanced approach that considers all sides of the story.
As the discussion continues, the incident highlights the importance of maintaining healthy relationships between caregivers and the families they serve, especially during periods of grief and transition.
