A 25-year-old Nairobi woman was left in shock after discovering millions of shillings hidden in a simple paper bag following the death of her father.
The young woman, identified only as “Daddy’s Bug,” grew up believing her father was a struggling construction worker. He had dropped out of university to raise her alone in a small bedsitter in Kibera after her mother abandoned them years ago.
“My father wore worn-out boots held together by glue and often skipped meals claiming he wasn’t hungry, just so I could eat,” she recalled tearfully after burying her dad, who recently lost his battle with late-stage cancer.
However, after the emotional funeral service in Nairobi, the family lawyer handed her a plain paper bag alongside a brief note reading, “Daddy’s Bug, I hope you’ll forgive me after you see what’s inside.”
Inside the bag was KSh 12 million in savings and land title deeds. The father had quietly sacrificed his own comfort for over two decades, saving every coin to secure his daughter’s financial future before passing away.
