Judith Akoth

Judith Akoth’s story is one of resilience, perseverance, and determination. Despite excelling academically from an early age, her journey into professional nursing took over two decades due to life challenges, financial hardship, and personal setbacks.

Born in 1984, Judith faced tragedy early in life when she lost both her parents as a child. Despite this, she continued to perform well academically and went on to secure the third position nationally in the 1998 KCPE examinations.

Her education journey, however, was disrupted by financial difficulties, forcing her to move between schools before eventually completing her KCSE in 2002, where she attained a B minus grade. Life became even more difficult after she lost her grandmother and was later pushed into early marriage at the age of 18.

Years later, in 2019, a turning point came when someone recognized her potential while she was caring for a sick relative. This encouragement inspired her to pursue her long-delayed dream of becoming a nurse.

She joined the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Siaya Campus in March 2020, where she began her studies in nursing. Despite challenges including family resistance, injuries, and personal loss—including the death of her husband during her training—she remained focused on completing her education.
