Kenyan musician and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has issued a strong warning to young women against getting involved with married men and rushing into unplanned motherhood amid the country’s tough economic situation.
In a candid Facebook post shared on Monday, May 25, 2026, the outspoken entertainer cautioned women about the emotional, financial and psychological struggles that often follow relationships built on false promises and uncertainty.
Using humour blended with serious life lessons, Akothee warned that many young women are finding themselves abandoned and overwhelmed after trusting married men who later return to their families.
“In this economy, getting pregnant is no longer ‘oops.’ My sister it is now a full-time contract with no off days,” she wrote.
The singer described the harsh realities of pregnancy, childbirth and raising children without adequate support, saying many women underestimate the responsibilities that come with parenthood until it is too late.
She further warned that some married men use sweet words and promises to manipulate women, only to disappear when responsibilities arise.
“And the married man who was calling you ‘My Queen’ and ‘My Future Wife’ has already returned to his legal headquarters,” Akothee wrote.
According to the entertainer, many women are left to shoulder the burden of hospital bills, rent, childcare and emotional stress alone while the men move on with their lives and marriages.
Akothee urged young women not to have children with married men in the hope of being chosen over the legal wife, insisting that genuine commitment must be shown through clear actions and responsibility.
“Don’t give birth for a married man hoping he will choose you. If he truly loves you, let him officially pack his suitcase, leave that marriage legally, buy you a house and stand proudly beside you,” she stated.
The musician also warned against allowing loneliness, pressure or emotional excitement to cloud judgment, saying many women end up battling bitterness and regret after making life-changing decisions without proper support systems.
