Kenyan musician and entrepreneur Esther Akoth popularly known as Akothee has sparked emotional conversations online after sharing a heartfelt message urging Kenyans to show more empathy, kindness and understanding to people silently struggling with life challenges.

In a lengthy Facebook post shared on Thursday, the singer reflected on the emotional, financial and personal battles many people are facing behind closed doors despite appearing strong in public.

“I KNOW YOU ARE DEALING WITH A LOT. PAUSE AND READ THIS. The world is carrying too much silent pain,” Akothee wrote at the beginning of the emotional post that quickly attracted thousands of reactions online.

The singer went on to describe different situations affecting people across society, noting that many individuals are suffering quietly while trying to maintain a normal life.

“Some people are struggling financially and don’t know where the next meal or rent will come from. Some marriages are silently falling apart while couples continue smiling in public. Some single parents are overwhelmed, exhausted and carrying responsibilities alone,” she stated.

Akothee also highlighted the emotional weight carried by families dealing with sickness, grief and disappointment, saying many people are trying to survive difficult moments without support.

“Someone just received life-changing medical results and is trying to process the pain alone. A family cannot discharge their loved one from hospital because there is no money. Some parents are mourning children lost through accidents, violence, addiction or reckless lifestyles,” she wrote.

The mother of five said society has reached a point where emotional pain has become so widespread that kindness now feels unusual.

“You see… it is raining everywhere. If it is not this, then it is that. Pain has become so common that kindness now feels rare. Many people are carrying wounds so deep that even ‘good morning’ feels heavy to hear,” Akothee added.

She further urged Kenyans to avoid rushing to judge others because many people are privately dealing with battles unknown to the public.

“Nobody is free from battles. Some are fighting publicly. Others are fighting privately. Some cry loudly. Others cry silently while still working, parenting, smiling and surviving,” she wrote.

Akothee also called for more compassion and emotional intelligence in society, saying simple gestures of kindness can help save lives and restore hope to struggling individuals.

“This generation desperately needs empathy. We need to normalize kindness, checking on people, listening without judgment and praying for one another. A soft response can save someone. A listening ear can heal someone. A small act of kindness can restore hope,” she said.

She concluded the message by reminding Kenyans that many people are already fighting difficult battles silently.

“Before you judge someone today, pause. Life is already fighting many people harder than we know,” Akothee stated.

Her message has since resonated with many social media users, with some praising her for addressing the silent emotional struggles affecting many people in society today.
