Former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has spoken out following the recent violent incident along the Mwingi–Garissa Road in Kitui County.In a statement shared on Friday, May 1, Moi extended condolences to families who lost loved ones, noting that the tragedy has caused pain across the country.
He urged communities in the affected areas to remain calm and avoid acts of retaliation or escalation.
Moi cautioned that resource-based conflicts should never degenerate into violence, destruction of property, or loss of life.
He emphasized that such incidents only deepen divisions and slow down efforts toward national unity and development.
He further supported ongoing security operations by the government, including the deployment of multi-agency teams tasked with restoring order and protecting civilians.At same time, Moi called for structured, community-led dialogue as a long-term solution to recurring tensions.
He stressed the need for sober leadership, peaceful coexistence, and strict adherence to the rule of law in order to achieve lasting stability in the region.
