Kenyans on Friday joined the rest of the world in marking International Workers’ Day, with celebrations held across the country to honour the contribution of workers to national development. The annual Labour Day event, observed every May 1, brought together government officials, trade unions, employers and workers in various sectors.

The main celebrations were led by Central Organization of Trade Unions (Kenya) (COTU) SG Francis Atwoli and President William Ruto, who addressed key issues affecting workers, including wages, job security and working conditions. Calls for improved labour rights and better economic policies dominated the day, as workers reflected on their role in building the nation’s economy.

It is during this day that Edwin Sifuna took to his Facebook page and wished Kenyans a happy Labor Day.

“Happy labour day. Mbarikiwe. (Be blessed),” posted Sifuna.

This is what Kenyans said.

Millicent: Edwin W. Sifuna, even if you will get 1 vote, it will be mine. Not because of your promises but because of the values you stand for; THE RULE OF LAW,MERITOCRACY ,SOCIAL JUSTICE, plus the tenants of Kenyan constitution ETC . Don’t associate with those of contrary opinions even if it means walking alone do it with your head raised high because we believe in you.

Florence: Omwani we will force you to be president because spiritually we feel like you’re our Ibrahim Traore.
