Protest in tum

Tension ran high in Nakuru County after police deployed teargas to break up furious parents and residents staging fresh demonstrations over the unexplained death of a three-year-old student at Gilgil Hills Academy in Gilgil.

The protests followed the death of Faiz Faraj, whose body was discovered in a school fishpond after he went missing. While the school reported that the boy drowned, the family rejected the claim and demanded further investigations after the postmortem reportedly showed no water in his body.

Angry residents took to the streets, blocked roads, and set tyres on fire as they called for justice for the young boy.

Police intervened and fired teargas to disperse the crowd as tensions rose in the town.

Reports show the child was reported missing around 11 am and was later found in the fishpond at about 1 pm.The family said they were initially told the child was unwell before being informed of the drowning, raising more questions about the circumstances of his death.

A relative, Dickson Ndirangu, said the family would continue seeking answers, insisting they want the truth about what happened and who is responsible.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the town and online, with many people demanding thorough investigations and justice for the child even after burial.

Authorities have called for calm as investigations continue.
