A cloud of sorrow engulfed Gatundu North as family and friends gathered ahead of the burial of Daniel Mburu, a 25-year-old Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) who died by suicide.
According to reports, Daniel allegedly shot and killed his wife, Eunice Waruguru , 28, at Kirimon KDF Camp in Laikipia County.
The Kenya Defence Forces revealed that the tragic incident occurred on March 7, 2026, a day after the couple shared romantic photos on social media.
Preliminary investigations suggest a domestic dispute may have led to the shooting after she was accused of cheating; Mburu later took his own life.
The grieving family said the couple, who had been together for three years, leaves behind a three-year-old daughter.
KDF revealed that several shots were heard from the suspect’s room. Officers who rushed to the scene recovered an AK-47 rifle, six loaded magazines, and a handwritten last testament from the scene.
The bodies were taken to Samburu County Referral Hospital for post-mortem examination, and it was established that they both succumbed to gunshot wounds.
On March 19, the grieving family gathered to pay their last respects to the couple, who will be laid to rest in Gatundu North.
