Kitui Member of Parliament Irene Kasalu has allegedly built 40 houses for families from poor backgrounds.
On March 19, the MP, who took to social media platforms to announce the completion of another house, listed some of the challenges these families have been going through.
She revealed that the project began in 2023 after she observed the deplorable conditions these families were living in, adding that no parent should have to share a single room with their grown children.
The renowned MP affirmed that no family should spend the night shivering from the cold or fearing the dangers that come with darkness.
MP Irene said, “When I started Homes of Hope in 2023, it was to end this pain. Every human being deserves the dignity of a safe, private, and secure roof over their head.
“Today, I am proud to share that we have built over 40 houses across every ward in Kitui. We are replacing fear with comfort and tears with smiles. But this journey is not yet over.”
“Through your prayers and God’s will, when we assume the Office of Governor, this initiative will reach even more needy families. We will build a Kitui where everyone starts their day in a home they are proud of. Together, we are building a better future.”
