The race for the Westlands MP seat is promising to be a titanic battle with the son of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi making a huge plunge into the murky world of politics.
Moses Budamba Mudavadi, the eldest son of the former Vice President, is the latest to declare his bid for the Westlands MP seat.
Budamba is keen to succeed the current MP Tim Wanyonyi Wetangula who is shifting his political base to Bungoma County with the eyes on the Governor seat.
Tim Wanyonyi has held the seat since 2013 when he succeeded former cabinet minister Fred Gumo who had served as MP for 19 years.
Already, former Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi has declared his bid for the seat having recently joined Democracy for Citizens Party which is led by ex- Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Besides Havi, there is also Michael Gumo, the son of Gumo, the former cabinet minister.
Riding on a famous and already established family name, Budamba is determined to establish himself as a formidable politician, and potentially succeed his father in the murky world of politics.
At 66 years, Mudavadi is towards the sunset years of his checkered political career. And in his son, the famous family name will surely not be exiting Kenyan politics any time soon.
