Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s long serving bodyguard Maurice Ogeta on Saturday made a rare public appearance when he joined other leaders in standing in solidarity with embattled former cabinet secretary Raphael Tuju at his business park.
Ogeta accompanied Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo and renowned legal scholar PLO Lumumba in standing with the former Jubilee Party Secretary General.
It was a rare public appearance for Ogeta since he was appointed as security advisor to the Mombasa County Governor Abbulswamad Shariff Nassir late last year, 2025.
The veteran bodyguard was at the heart of Raila’s security for close to two decades. He stood with the former Prime Minister to his final hours on earth while he was under medication in India.
The towering Ogeta has kept off the limelight since the death of Raila in October 2025.
Kenyans on social media expressed mixed reactions over Ogeta’s gesture to stand with the former minister especially at his lowest moment.
Since the death of Raila in October 2025, Ogeta has become kind of a celebrity with his movements keenly being followed by his online fans.
