Former NTV presenter, Dr. King’ori has been thrown into mourning following the death of a man whose photo with him inside a television studio later turned into a viral meme.
In an emotional Facebook post, Dr. King’ori revealed that the deceased was Peter Nyakundi Maragia. He explained that the widely shared photo was taken at the station’s studios during the recording of the show The Wicked Edition.
According to Dr. King’ori, the photo quickly spread across social media platforms, where many Kenyans creatively turned it into different memes. The presenter noted that the late Maragia was aware of the viral trend and, just like him, often laughed at the humorous captions created online.
Reports indicate that Peter Nyakundi Maragia passed away on March 7, 2026. His death has left family members, friends and those who interacted with him deeply saddened.
Preparations for his final send-off are currently underway as the family works to give him a dignified burial. A fundraising and memorial service is scheduled to take place on March 17 at Maxwell Old Church.
After the memorial, his body will be laid to rest at his father’s home in the Nyansiongo Settlement Scheme in Nyamira County on March 20.
Friends, relatives and members of the public who knew him have continued to send messages of condolence to the family as they come to terms with the loss.
