Mombasa residents on Friday blocked President William Ruto’s motorcade as he was leaving Kenyatta Grounds after attending the launch of the Nyota Fund.

The incident happened moments after the President finished his speech at the event, which was attended by youth groups, traders and government officials. As the motorcade moved out of the venue, a group of residents stepped onto the road and stopped the vehicles, demanding that the President listen to their concerns.

Security officers tried to clear the road, but President Ruto ordered the convoy to stop. He addressed the crowd and asked them to remain calm. The President told the residents that his government is working hard to deliver services and improve the lives of Kenyans.

Ruto said the Nyota Fund was introduced to support young people and small business owners by giving them access to affordable loans. He said the fund will help create jobs and grow small businesses across the country.

The President admitted that many Kenyans are facing economic challenges, including the high cost of living. He assured the residents that the government is taking steps to address these problems and asked them to be patient as the programmes take effect.

After the President spoke, the residents moved off the road, allowing the motorcade to continue. There were no reports of injuries, and the situation returned to normal.

The Nyota Fund launch was part of President Ruto’s tour of the Coast region. The Friday incident showed the rising frustration among some residents, but the President’s decision to stop and speak to them helped calm the situation and allowed his visit to continue without further disruption.
