Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a is receiving heavy criticism on social media after a video of her pretending to step out of a helicopter went viral.
The video, which appears to have been poorly edited, has caused many Kenyans to accuse the lawmaker of trying to fake a luxurious lifestyle.
In the short clip, Alice Ng’ang’a is seen walking toward a helicopter parked on open ground.
She pauses beside the helicopter and slightly turns as if she has just alighted from it.
She then walks toward the camera crew, smiling and waving, giving the impression that she arrived at the event by air.
However, sharp-eyed viewers noticed that she did not actually step out of the helicopter. Instead, she approached it from outside and pretended to emerge from it.
This mistake is believed to have happened because her social media team failed to edit the video properly before posting it online.
Kenyans on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and TikTok quickly reacted, with many calling the move embarrassing.
Some criticized the MP for trying too hard to appear wealthy or powerful.
Others argued that leaders should focus on serving their communities, not creating staged images for popularity.
Many users posted jokes and memes mocking the video, while others questioned why a public servant would feel the need to fake such a moment.
Critics said that pretending to use a helicopter shows a disconnect from the struggles of ordinary citizens, especially during a time when many Kenyans are facing high living costs.
Supporters of the MP tried to defend her, saying it was only a harmless attempt at content creation.
However, the wider reaction has been negative, with many accusing her of lacking authenticity.
