For years, Tahidi High was one of Kenya’s most beloved TV shows, entertaining millions with its blend of humor, high-school drama, and relatable characters. Among its standout cast was Angel Waruinge, famously known as Miss Morgan, the strict and sharp-tongued deputy principal whose presence commanded respect across the fictional school.

But behind the strong on-screen persona, Waruinge was fighting silent battles that almost broke her.

Waruinge’s journey into acting began early. Born and raised in Kenya, she fell in love with performance while still in high school. This passion led her to local theatre productions and eventually to the screens, where she quickly became one of Kenya’s most recognized faces. Her role in Tahidi High, which aired from 2006 to 2020, transformed her into a household name and opened the door to endorsements and industry acclaim.

However, when the show ended, Waruinge found herself struggling to detach from the character that made her famous. In a candid interview with Hiram Maina, she revealed that she sank into depression, alcoholism, and a deep identity crisis. The pressure of fame, coupled with personal fears and life changes, pushed her into a dark place where she relied on alcohol as an escap

According to Waruinge, the turning point came when she made the painful but necessary decision to let go of the “Miss Morgan” identity. “Saying goodbye to Miss Morgan opened me up to new opportunities,” she told Kenyans.co.ke. This emotional release marked the beginning of a healing journey.

Today, Angel Waruinge is rebuilding her life with renewed purpose. She has appeared in several awareness films and is currently working on launching her own YouTube show, where she hopes to use her story to inspire others battling silent struggles.
