Tanzanian gospel sensation Christina Shusho has released an emotional new song in tribute to the late Raila Odinga, Kenya’s former Prime Minister, who passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

The song, titled “Pumzika Baba” (Rest, Father), celebrates Raila’s legacy his courage, sacrifices, and the mark he left on Kenya and the African continent. In the soulful track, Shusho praises Raila’s lifelong commitment to justice and his unwavering spirit through decades of political struggle.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Friday, October 17, Shusho expressed her deep sympathy to Kenyans, describing Kenya as her second home.

“My ministry has grown so much because of my Kenyan supporters. I stand with you as we celebrate this great son of Africa, Raila Odinga. I had to do this for Kenyans,” she said.

Shusho’s song adds a spiritual and emotional layer to the tributes pouring in from across Africa, as the continent mourns one of its most influential and beloved leaders.

She joins several artists who have also used music to honor Raila’s memory. King Kaka, a popular Kenyan rapper, recently released a moving tribute to the ODM leader, while Benga artist Prince Indah shared his own heartfelt musical homage.

Music was always close to Raila’s heart. He was known to sing during public events, with one of his favorite songs being “Jamaican Farewell” by Harry Belafonte, a tune whose nostalgic lyrics now carry a deeper meaning:

“But I am sad to say, I’m on my way, won’t be back for many a day…”

As thousands gather at Nyayo Stadium for his State Funeral, Shusho’s song serves as both comfort and celebration a reminder that Raila’s spirit and influence will continue to resonate through the hearts

of those he inspired.
