Residents of Pipeline, Embakasi, were left in shock after a bizarre incident between two locals took an unexpected turn.
According to witnesses, a man identified as Josphat Kioko had an unsettled debt with a woman known as Esther Mwende. Tired of waiting, Mwende allegedly confronted Josphat while he was hanging his clothes. She reportedly dragged him to her house and locked the door behind them.
Inside, Mwende demanded her money, but Josphat asked for more time, promising to settle the debt at the end of the month. Unconvinced, Mwende allegedly decided to “recover” the debt in her own way. The confrontation lasted about 35 minutes, leaving Josphat completely drained.
Soon after, Josphat was rushed to Komarock Hospital, where doctors placed him on a drip to stabilize his condition. Sources at the hospital said his body had been weakened to the point of exhaustion.
On the other hand, Mwende was spotted smiling in the neighborhood days later, with locals describing her as “a hardworking woman who doesn’t joke when it comes to debts.”
The unusual story has since sparked heated conversations both online and offline. Some residents sympathized with Josphat, saying he should have been given more time to pay. Others, however, argued that ignoring debts often pushes people to desperate measures.
This incident serves as a reminder of how sensitive money matters can be, especially among friends and neighbors. While Mwende’s actions have drawn mixed reactions, the community is urging people to handle debt disputes more peacefully to avoid such extreme outcomes.
